On its fifth edition, the EDP Open Innovation programme scales up the challenge and invites start-ups worldwide to present projects focused on innovations in the area of clean technologies in the energy sector. Selected candidates will be able to turn their projects into real businesses, in a four-week acceleration programme taking place in October, in Lisbon, Portugal. The competition is open until August 31.

In partnership with national newspaper Expresso, the Portuguese Group EDP, one of Europe’s major electricity operators, is looking for projects in a wide range of energy-related categories: such as energy efficiency, electric mobility, solar and wind power generation, energy storage and distribution, among others.

An international jury from Brazil, Spain and Portugal will evaluate all projects and pick 15 teams for the Open Innovation four weeks programme. Each week, a different bootcamp will be held, in the headquarters of FЗbrica de Startups, in Lisbon. Participants can then develop their ideas and create solid and structured foundations for their businesses, also testing customers’ product acceptance. The process closes with an Investment Pitch, having each team five minutes to share the work developed with EDP, investors, and the international start-up community.
