February 28, 2019

With this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD) looking at how innovation and technology can provide unprecedented opportunities for women in the world today, to mark IWD19, Google’s Women Techmakers programme has kicked off its Global Event Series.

Providing visibility, community and resources for women in technology for almost a decade, the Women Techmakers team has convened more than 200 global events across 52 countries in honour of IWD since 2013. This year, the programme is hosting several events across the world, from London to Tokyo, throughout March.

They feature tech talks, panel discussions and networking opportunities for women in technology. If you are a woman in tech, you can find the closest event to you in the Global Event Series calendar. There is also an extensive programme of Meetups, hosted by Google Developer Groups at various venues globally.

What is Women Techmakers?
Women Techmakers is Google’s global programme for women in technology, launched in 2012. Initially led by then Vice-President of Google[x] Megan Smith, it is now overseen by Women in Technology Advocate Natalie Villalobos and a global team of Googlers who are passionate about empowering women in technology.

As well as the Global Event Series, the programme continually launches scalable initiatives and pilots new programmes to support and empower women in the industry.
